Kristten Buttermore, LMHC (She/Her) Interim Executive Director
Kristten earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Iowa State University and her Master of Science of Education in Community Counseling from Drake University. She has been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2005. Kristten is basic trained in EMDR. She also serves as the president for the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association.
Stephanie Vela, LMHC, CADC (She/Her) Therapist
Stephanie obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in sociology from Northern Illinois University. She worked in a variety of positions in the field, including working with at-risk youth, working in an adolescent shelter, child-welfare, and counseling individuals with addictions and co-occurring disorders. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2015. Stephanie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) has been a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) since 2011. Stephanie provides individual mental health assessment and therapy sessions. In addition, Stephanie completed EMDR basic training.

Kelly Binkowski (She/Hers) Master’s Level Intern
Kelly is a current student in Grand View University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program completing her master’s degree. She is currently interned at Creative Counseling under the supervision of Kristten Buttermore, LMHC.
Kelly holds an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Iowa State University, a Bachelor’s in Nursing Science from Creighton University, and Master’s of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in women’s health. She is passionate about working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and trauma. She is also comfortable and experienced working with new moms and moms struggling with postpartum depression. Kelly has experience working with a variety of individuals including athletes (high school to D1 college level), undergraduate and graduate students, and other professionals.

Abbie Stucker (She/Hers) Master’s Level Intern
Abbie is currently pursuing her masters in mental health and wellness counseling at NYU. Abbie graduated from Iowa State with her bachelors in psychology and criminal justice. She has experience working in a Cognitive psychology lab involving interrogations that is funded by the FBI. Currently she serves as the secretary for the board of directors for the Center for Creative Justice.
Abbie sees clients ages 16 and up. Her areas of focus are addiction, LBGTQI+, and general mental health. Abbie is a Person-Centered therapist and utilizes Strength Based modalities as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
